Renaissance Analytics shows students' performance in relation to the school network benchmarks and national benchmarks for Star Reading and Star Maths.
School Network Star Benchmarks
School network benchmarks are used for the Star Reading and Star Maths Proficiency Benchmark tiles on the School Network and School Profile and the matching values on the Our Schools Dashboard. They are also used for the Percentile Rank benchmark categories shown on the Our Students Dashboard. The benchmark categories are based on these Star Percentile Rank scores:
- Urgent Intervention: 1-5 PR
- Intervention: 6-15 PR
- On Watch: 16-39 PR
- At Benchmark: 40-49 PR
- Above Benchmark: 50-99 PR
At Benchmark is the default minimum proficiency level - that is, the lowest benchmark category that is considered to be proficient.
National Benchmarks
National benchmark categories in Star represent predicted proficiency on national tests (such as KS2 SATs). National tests are criterion-referenced tests. Renaissance software reflects students' estimated national benchmarks based on their Star Scaled Scores. If your students are taking the national assessment, you may benefit from using the benchmark to forecast performance based on our growth norms.
Estimated national benchmark data is included on all Renaissance Analytics dashboards.
